Lap flange: The lap flange is actually the exact same sliding flange unless it has a radius between the hole and the flange race. It is necessary to have a flange with a flange to accommodate the stub end. Often, lap stubs and lap stubs mate together to assemble the system.

Butt-welded flange: This butt-welded flange is similar to a sliding flange, but with threaded holes. Its main advantage is that it can be assembled without welding, creating a danger in the ordinary interpretation of atmospheric temperature in the use of low-pressure services and extremely explosive areas.

The socket butt welding flange is a similar sliding flange, except that it has a hole and counter hole size. The counter hole is slightly beer-to-orange than the O.D. pipe, so the pipe is inserted into the flange similar to a sliding flange. The smaller hole diameter is the same ID for the same pipe match. The limitation is the built-in hole, which stays at the bottom as a shoulder cover for the pipe. This eliminates any flow limitation when using socket welding flanges.
